Lodging Industry – Its worth billions of dollars today.

The lodging, travel and entertainment industries are just as global as they are local, and everyone is affected by it in some way. The real estate markets are centered on the large hotels that are part of the lodging, hotel and entertainment industry. One prime piece of real estate for a well-know hotel family name could turn into a multi-million dollar hotel chain that earns its money by charging more than $100 per night.

The lodging industry will be affected because that one piece of real estate for a large hotel, will eventually turn into sales for more to be built. One hotel concept will have a trickle effect and will gradually circumvent the globe and consume millions of acres of other prime real estate properties that have a hotel built on each one.

Investors join in on the wealth in the hotel industry by purchasing stock in the large hotel chains. Their real estate investment portfolios will not only be affected by the trades on the stock exchange, but will also be affected by the number of people seeking lodging, and the amount of tourism influence exists in the cities where the hotels are built. If people do not rent rooms at the hotels, then the local economy is poor and the number of trades on Wall Street does not show the return on the investment.

Millions of people work for the hotel and entertainment industries and when rooms are not rented there is a possibility that some will experience layoffs. This in turn affects the unemployment rates throughout the Nation and the money that people have to spend in their own hometowns. The hotel, lodging and entertainment industry is more than providing hospitality and many people think that the lodging industry is the life blood of their communities.

These industries have many constituents in Congress too because every State has an interest in the success of the three industries that bring revenue into their home States. The National economy is affected by the rise and fall of tourism rates across the Nation, and taxes come from the tourism interests. People are controlled by what happens in all of the industries, but tourist cannot be controlled when they decide not to travel and stay home instead.
